Every professional must have a resume. Most of the resumes I have reviewed in the IT world have been lack luster at best, and these are the ones which make it through HR. One of the problems I had at the beginning of my career was that my resume would be spun up one night after work when I decided I wanted something more. Each time would be a new resume, new format, complete rewrite from the ground up. This method was error prone, time consuming and generally demoralizing. Over time I have learned to continuously update my resume every few months with the latest projects I have been working on. My resume is now ready to go at a moments notice. Even though I am continuously tweaking my resume in its current format, I am always looking for ways to improve my resume or spruce it up. Not long ago a very clean, well formatted resume came across my desk, and without looking at the content I thought to myself "I want my resume to look like this". I noticed at the bottom of the page https://www.visualcv.com/. That night after putting my daughter to bed, I decided to check out visualcv. There are 2 account types free and pro. The pro price is $12/month and includes a resume expert who will help craft your resume with you. The pro subscription also opens up a large number of templates and allows many versions of your resume. The free version allows 2 versions of you resume and provides 3 templates. The free version is an excellent place to get started perfecting your resume. I was able to upload my existing resume into a template and within minutes had a well formatted resume on the web and in PDF format ready to go. You can choose to have just a PDF version, an unlisted online version, or an online version listed and indexed by search engines. There is a warning about providing personal information for the indexed version.
Here are the 2 versions I was able to create within minutes.
