Custom Color for Production Connection

Have elevated permissions in production and want a visual aid to help quickly identify your production environments?



Step 1, Register your servers within SSMS (View > Registered Servers)
I organize mine in folders, DEV, QA, UAT, PROD
Once the Server is registered, right click the server name > Properties. Click on the Tab Connection Properties, Checkbox User Custom Color. I would choose red for production.

Now the status bar at the bottom of the screen has a custom color.

You can repeat the process for your other environments, Green, Yellow, ETC.
